Born in Chichester, Antony's family moved to the US when he was 12, and he settled in New York in 1990. Antony and the Johnsons had released one eponymous album to date before releasing I Am A Bird Now on Rough Trade Records in March 2005.
Since releasing the album to critical acclaim in March 2005, Antony has gone on to sell over 100,000 albums. He has appeared on Later With Jools Holland, BBC Newsnight Review and the Culture Show on BBC2, sold out the Queen Elizabeth Hall on two occasions, including a performance at Patti Smith's Meltdown, and sold out his UK tour in June. |
