James Seo
Interior
James Seo makes things with video and computation. He wants to explore how to use digital media and technologies to visually represent and synthesize multiple points of view and points in time. His current project is a set of interactive applets where you can manipulate video so that different areas of the video clip (split screens or freeform blots) will play asynchronously, each area taking on its own flow of time. His past work includes developing networked tools for editing and browsing video and images (using lightweight Java applet interfaces and server-side media processing engines) and designing an interface for visualizing concordance within video edits. He makes split-screen short films and has a weblog dedicated to multi-layered media called Split Screen Splitscreen.us. He holds a master's degree in Media Arts and Sciences and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT, and studied under John Maeda at the MIT Media Lab's Physical Language Workshop.
