Horizon
Hiroshi Kondo's video gives the viewer a taste of what it's like to be a water bug traveling at hyper speed down a river. Flora and outcroppings of earth melt into each other as we sail past the bank of the river - or horizon - an infinitely escaping and changing line. Eeriness pervades in both the long stable shot without a cut and the mirroring image that the horizon provides. While the video seeps in, it's hard not to think of a Rorschach inkblot test as regular landscapes start to surprise us in various shapes, bodies, and whatever a wanton eye decides to depict.
