Using a sophisticated visual language, elaborately drawn in Flash, fantasies, associations and flashbacks offer an enticing escape - even a mundane room may be made more bearable by mentally morphing space and time.
Buerkner studied painting in Germany then moved to London to complete a Masters in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art & Design. His work uses repetition and almost stroboscopic editing to thwart the viewer’s attempts to grasp or piece together an elusive narrative thread. Exhibitions include Whitechapel Gallery and LUX, London, as well as screenings at Tate Liverpool, Barbican, London and Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna.
